About General Counseling
The General Counseling Department at Oxnard College provides comprehensive academic, career, and personal counseling services to support students throughout their educational journey. We understand that navigating college can sometimes feel overwhelming, and our goal is to simplify the process- helping students stay on track to reach their academic, career, and personal goals.
Counseling services are available in person, via Zoom, and by phone, offering flexible support to meet student needs.
The department's primary goal is to assist both full-time and part-time students in identifying their educational objectives and developing individualized plans to achieve them. Given Oxnard College’s open-access policy, counselors are especially attentive to the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and goals of our student population.
Students are encouraged to schedule an appointment with a counselor at least once per semester to review, update, or develop an educational plan. In addition to General Counseling, students have access to specialized resources including theUniversity Transfer Center and the Career Center, which provide further guidance in university transfer and career exploration.
