Transfer to a Four-Year Institution

Oxnard College provides students the opportunity to complete lower-division coursework and earn an associate degree while preparing for transfer to a four-year university. Whether your goal is to attend a University of California (UC), a California State University (CSU), or a private or out-of-state institution, our courses align with transfer requirements and can help you on your way to earning a bachelor’s degree.

Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT)

Associate in Arts for Transfer (AA-T) or Associate in Science for Transfer (AS-T)

California Community Colleges offer Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADTs) aligned with the CSU system. These include:

  • AA-T (Associate in Arts for Transfer)
  • AS-T (Associate in Science for Transfer)

ADTs are designed to provide a streamlined path to a CSU major and bachelor’s degree. By completing 60 CSU-transferable semester units at Oxnard College and 60 additional units at a CSU campus, students can efficiently achieve their academic goals.

Meet with a counselor to determine which ADT may best support your transfer objectives.

See the ADT Requirements section for complete details.

Associate in Science Degree for UC Transfer (AS-UCTP)

The University of California has created specific degree patterns called UC Transfer Pathways (UCTP). These programs provide a structured route for students who plan to transfer to a UC campus and earn a bachelor’s degree. Students pursuing the AS-UCTP must complete the UC Transfer Agreement Guarantee (TAG), along with the major and general education requirements.

UCTP degrees are currently available in Physics and Chemistry, with additional disciplines in development. Speak with a counselor to learn more about eligibility and course planning.

Associate Degree

Associate in Arts (AA) & Associate in Science (AS)

An associate degree provides valuable credentials and enhances employability in critical economic climates. Oxnard College offers:

  • AA (Associate in Arts)
  • AS (Associate in Science)

These degrees require the completion of 60 degree-applicable semester units, including general education and major-specific courses. In addition, Oxnard College offers General Studies degrees that allow students to explore their interests while focusing on an area of emphasis rather than a specific major.

See the Associate Degree Requirements section for more information.

Certificate of Achievement (COA)

Certificates of Achievement are awarded to students who complete a focused program of study in a specific skill or knowledge area. These certificates typically involve a more in-depth commitment than Proficiency Award (PA) and, like Associate Degrees, are reflected on the student’s transcript and eligible for inclusion in the spring graduation ceremony.

See the Certificate of Achievement Requirements section for a full list of programs.

Proficiency Award (PA)

Proficiency Awards recognize students who have successfully completed a course or short sequence of courses that lead to specific employment opportunities or enhance existing skills. These awards are not recorded on the student's transcript and do not make a student eligible to participate in the spring graduation ceremony.

See the Proficiency Award Requirements section for a list of available awards.

Certificate of Competency (Noncredit)

This noncredit certificate is awarded to students who have demonstrated mastery in a set of competencies that prepare them for career advancement or transition into credit programs. Each certificate includes the certificate name and date awarded, program discipline and code, and the list of achieved competencies. Some information may also be recorded on a noncredit transcript.

Refer to the Certificate of Competency Requirements section for full details.

Certificate of Completion (Noncredit)

These certificates are designed for students who complete a series of noncredit courses aimed at improving job skills or employability. Each certificate includes the certificate name and date awarded, program discipline and code, statement of program goals, and list of completed courses. Some or all of this information may appear on a noncredit transcript.

See the Certificate of Completion Requirements section for more information.
