This Dance degree program provides training in five areas of technique: ballet, modern, jazz, improvisation and dance somatics. Integral parts of the curriculum are practical experience in concert performance and production work as well as a theoretical background in choreography and dance history.
To earn an Associate in Arts Degree in Dance, students must:
- Complete a minimum of 60 associate degree-applicable semester units. Students planning to transfer should complete 60 CSU transferable or 60 UC transferable units, depending on their intended transfer destination.
- Complete the Moorpark College’s General Education requirements to include Areas 1-7 or the Cal-GETC Pattern.
- Complete the required coursework for the major as listed in the Moorpark College catalog with a grade of “C” or better (or a “P”) in each of the courses selected.
- Complete the requirements in scholarship (2.0 minimum cumulative degree-applicable GPA).
- Complete a minimum of 12 semester units within the Ventura County Community College District.
